January Goals Update

My physical goal was to gather some new healthy recipes and try one new recipe each week (excluding the first week of the year.) I did really well on this goal for the first week. I am hoping that as February goes along that I can (and will) do better with this particular goal. However, I did not fully comprehend just how hard it was going to be to learn to cook healthier foods since my family does not like to eat healthy. I can occasionally get in those healthy foods, but I do wish that I could get more chances to eat and cook healthier since I am wanting to change my eating habits.

My mental goal was to read one new book. This month I chose to read "P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. I absolutely loved this book, and actually finished it by the middle of the month. My favorite quote from the book is "Shoot for the moon, and if you miss you'll still be among the stars" (270). This is a book that I do recommend, and if you aren't much of a reader, I also recommend watching the movie with the same title.

My social goal to go to my ward activities...did not happen once. Maybe there is a chance that I will actually decide to go to the activities...

My emotional goal to write in my journal once a week went really well. I didn't always write on the day I planned on, but for the most part I did write on Sundays.

My spiritual goal to try and pray more has been off and on. I expected that though. So for now my goal stays the same - to try and pray once a day at a minimum. Hopefully I will see better results with this goal during February.

For the most part my goals are staying the same, but the ones that will change, I am excited to see where this next month will lead me and how I will grow.

New Year...New Me

*Sorry that this post is later. I was hoping to post this earlier in the week, but my internet was acting up and wasn't really letting me on a whole lot.*

This year I am focusing on becoming whole. That includes 5 different areas in my life that can always be improved. The 5 areas are:
  1. Physical Health. My goal for physical health is mainly to learn to eat healthy. One thing that I have learned is that, like my family, I have terrible eating habits. My personal eating habits have not only caused me to become obese, but have also made losing weight hard. This week in particular I am looking for healthy recipes, because I dont have many.
Along with learning to eat healthier for myself, I am also planning on exercising more. My goal is to alternate between Country Heat and 21 Day Fix. This month I am doing Country Heat. I love Country Heat and it is one of my favorite ways to exercise. I will make sure to post at the end of the month to show my personal progress at the end of each month, which is when I will be making note of my progress towards reaching my physical health goals.
  2. Spiritual Health. My goal for spiritual health is to establish a habit of daily prayer. This is something that is hard for me. I know that prayer is good, but I don't have that habit in my life. With this goal I am hoping to be able to learn how to talk with Heavenly Father rather than talking to Him. I am looking to learn how to effectively pray.
  3. Mental Health. My mental goal for this year is to complete one new book each month. That is right, 12 books that I have never previously read. It is going to be so hard *sarcasm* since I love reading, this goal should be "easy." This is one that I am going to try and keep updated every month here.
  4. Social Health. My social goal for this year is to participate more in my ward activities.
  5. Emotional Health. My emotional goal for this year is to write in my journal at least once a week. I used to be an avid journalist but the past few years, specifically this past year, that has really gone downhill and I haven't recorded much about my life.
My goals for this year were chosen to help me expand myself and my thinking. I hope that this is the year that I can actually achieve all or most of my goals.
